College Tuition Scholarships Awarded to Two Stamford Youths

Stamford High’s Grace Lombardo and Pinnacle School’s Vinny DiLorenzo receive scholarships to attend college.

It may be a red-letter day for any student opening that letter informing them they have been accepted to college. When you are a young person suffering from Down Syndrome or other disabilities, getting that letter means hope for a better life.

Stamford High School cheerleader, Grace Lombardo, and Pinnacle Schools’ Vinny Dilorenzo recently got their letters. Each applied for- and received- a special educational grant from Stamford-based Level the Playing Field to attend college. Without the grants, state both sets of parents, college would not be possible for Grace and Vinny.

Vinny is attending Mitchell College where he is studying technology while Grace landed at Norwalk Community College. Both students are excelling notes their parents. Vinny achieved a 4.3 GPA this past semester and is already looking for next-level challenges in pursuing higher education.

“There are a number of companies who seek talent from the special needs community to fill important day-to-day roles,” notes Cliff Beauleau, Director of Employment Services at local partner, ARI of Stamford.  Furthering their education only increases ARI’s client’s chances of landing a meaningful job that provides them with self-sufficiency and independence as they become adults.
